Cat and dogs are having quite the election cycle. We have heard the “fake news” that miserable, childless cat ladies are running the country, and that people are kidnapping and eating family pets.

The latter horrified the public. Clearly, no one is eating cats and dogs, but the truth is that every day, millions of cows, sheep, pigs and other animals are slaughtered in the U.S. for consumption.

This double standard is the provocative message of Friends of Animals (friendsofanimals.org.) new election season campaign created by Chemistry, Atlanta, which launches Oct. 14 and runs through Oct. 20. The goal of the ad campaign is to encourage people to not only get out and vote, but to consider being vegan—the choice that protects the rights of ALL animals.

“We want people to think about their selective outrage about animals that is at the forefront of this election cycle. Respect and kindness matter towards all animals, non-human and human,” said Priscilla Feral, president of FoA. “Cruelty doesn’t belong on people’s plates or in public office. Voting your conscience shows that compassion matters. ”

The creative includes billboards in Times Square in Manhattan (The Cube at 47th St. btw 7th Ave. and Broadway), as well as Cleveland, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Greensboro, N.C., and Atlanta—key battleground locations. Social media components include Facebook and Instagram ads and art.
