Get A Spay Neuter Certificate

PLEASE NOTE:  Each veterinarian in our program has their own terms and prices of additional services that you must pay for at the time of the surgery. Inoculations are the responsibility of the pet owner and may be required by the veterinarian.

Refund policy: Certificates expire 12 months after the issue date. No refunds on lost or expired certificates. Prior to expiration, return unused certificate to Friends of Animals. A $20 service fee will be deducted for each certificate. Please allow up to 10 days for a refund to process.

One-time reissue policy: Regarding an unused spay neuter certificate that has not expired, we can extend it for one year with a $20. However, a reissued certificate cannot be refunded.

Spay Neuter Certificates ordered online below are sent via U.S. First Class postal mail the next business day. Or, you can call 1-800-321-PETS (7387) M-F, 9-5 EST to request an application to be sent via snail mail. If you have questions, please e-mail spayprogram@friendsofanimals.org.
Please include your mailing address if you request an application. (We do not email applications.)

Pricing/terms & conditions for our certificates:
 Our spay neuter certificate covers the cost of a routine spay/neuter procedure including a cursory (not full) surgical pre-exam, anesthesia, surgical procedure, waste disposal, day of surgery post-operative care and pain relief, hospitalization as required and stitch removal if necessary.

DO NOT MAKE AN APPOINTMENT with the veterinarian UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED the Friends of Animals spay neuter certificate. You must have the spay neuter certificate to give to the veterinarian when the animal is admitted for spay/neutering.

Vets may charge for dogs weighing 51-75 lbs. no more than $2 a pound and for dogs over 76 lbs. not more than $4 a pound.

Subsidized Spay Neuter Program

FoA has received a generous grant that allows us to offer our spay/neuter certificates at a more discounted rate than usual on a first come, first serve basis. Please read all information below to learn more about the program and to see if you qualify.  

What is the FoA Spay/Neuter Program? 

Friends of Animals provides certificates to individuals who wish to spay or neuter their dog or cat. These certificates are redeemable at veterinary clinics only within our network, a list of veterinary offices that accept our certificates is available by searching for your zip code below.  

What is typical pricing for the certificates?  

Regular rates are: $180 for female cats, $132 for male cats, $330 for female dogs, $210 for male dogs 

What is the subsidized certificate rate?  

Rates under this subsidized program are: $155 for female cats, $107 for male cats, $230 for female dogs, $160 for male dogs 

Who qualifies for the FoA subsidized spay/neuter certificate program?  

To qualify for the subsidized spay/neuter certificate rate, individuals must  

  1. Be a senior citizen aged 65+. A copy of a valid driver’s license, state ID, or passport qualifies as valid proof; OR 
  1. Be an active-duty military member or veteran. A copy of your military or veteran ID card qualifies as valid proof; OR 
  1. Be someone receiving income benefits from a federal program. These include SSI/SSDI/SNAP/WIC or Medicaid/Medicare. A copy of your valid ID card or most recent award letter will be accepted as proof.  

Now that I know I qualify, how do I get a subsidized certificate?  

This offer is only available for mail-in orders, not online orders. Qualifying individuals may call us at 1-800-321-PETS (7387) Monday-Thursday 9am-5pm EST or Friday 9am-1pm EST to request an application be sent via mail. The application should then be filled out and returned to us, with payment included, via mail so we may provide the certificate.  

Are there any other limitations or anything I should know?  

There is a limit of two certificates per household, and only one female dog certificate per household. For example, someone may purchase 2 certificates for one household- one female dog and one male dog, but not two female dogs. These subsidized rates are only available on a first come, first serve basis.
