Jeers to Tom Brady who revealed this week that his pit bull mix Junie is a clone of a former family pet. For a man whose ego could fill an NFL stadium, apparently, rescuing dogs the old-fashioned way just isn’t glamorous enough.

With 1,410,000 dogs entering shelters in the first half of 2025, desperate for homes, and 154,000 euthanized, according to Shelter Animals Count, Brady decided playing quarterback was no longer enough. He wants to play God, too, and make some money while he’s at it.

That’s right, Brady made the bizarre announcement in conjunction with Colossal Biosciences, a pet cloning company he conveniently invests in.

Brady insisted that he created the clone for “a second chance” with his beloved family dog. A touching sentiment—if you forget about the dogs in shelters waiting for their first.

The news also conveniently came when Colossal announced its acquisition of Viagen Pets and Equine, another pet cloning company famous for cloning Paris Hilton’s dog, as well as Barbara Steisand’s. Twice.

Seriously? Rich celebrities are cloning their pets and calling it love. They put out press releases about it and nobody blinks. The story being told is how heartbroken Brady & his family were when the dog died, and how happy they are that she’s back. As if this is cute or touching.

This should be a scandal, not a headline. Real dogs need homes, over 3 million enter shelters annually. Adopt. Don’t clone.
