Raleigh veterinarians, FoA team up to gift 50 free spay/neuter certificates to residents in need
Raleigh, North Carolina— Shelters across the U.S. are amid a euthanasia crisis, and those in Raleigh are no exception.
Since there is no debate about the fact that spay/neuter helps combat overpopulation and euthanasia of unwanted, homeless animals, from Sept. 15-17, 2025, Friends of Animals, a nationwide animal advocacy organization, will be gifting 50 free spay/neuter certificates to Raleigh residents who cannot afford its already lower-cost spay/neuter program.
The value of these surgical procedures through FoA’s breeding control program is approximately $10,000, and will be distributed first come, first serve.
Pet-owners interested in receiving a no cost spay-neuter certificate should call 1-800-321-PETS, Monday, Sept. 15 – Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. EST beginning on Sept. 15 to request a certificate.
“Access to affordable spay/neuter services is paramount in the fight against pet abandonment,” said Priscilla Feral, president of Friends of Animals. “We have four Raleigh veterinarians in our breeding control program who serve the community: Care First Animal Hospital, Complete Pet Care, Ansede Animal Hospital and Safe Haven for Cats.
“North Carolina’s statewide animal shelter euthanasia rate is among the highest in the country. Raleigh is experiencing overcrowding in animal shelters much like the rest of the nation, and the solution is to prevent unwanted litters before they’re born.”
FoA’s unique, affordable cost spay-neuter program is comprised of a national network of approximately 500 cooperating veterinarians.
