pFriends of Animals (FoA) has been chosen as one of the organizations to provide insight on embracing a plant-based lifestyle on June 7 at the a href=”http://www.clevelandvegansociety.org/”Cleveland VegFest/a, presented by the Cleveland Vegan Society.nbsp;/ppEdita Birnkrant, campaigns director of FoA, will present ldquo;Is it Enough to say, lsquo;End Factory Farmingrsquo; or lsquo;Go Vegan#39;?rdquo; during which she will discuss how a push to ldquo;end factory farmingrdquo; and replace it with ldquo;happy meatrdquo; by companies like Whole Foods and others who claim to care about animal welfare is really a marketing ploy that inadvertently sabotages the vegan movement. She will also talk about why boycotting palm oil can help save orangutans and Sumatran tigers and elephants from extinction, and how a vegan lifestyle goes beyond whatrsquo;s on your plate and also involves ongoing efforts to peacefully co-existing with all wildlife.nbsp;/ppimg alt=”” src=”/sites/default/files/kcfinder/files/ClevelandVF.jpg” style=”width: 400px; height: 267px; margin: 8px; float: right;” //ppFeaturing many top national speakers and authors in their fields on issues of health, environmental sustainability, social justice and animal rights, the Cleveland VegFest will be an opportunity to explore how choosing a vegan meal directly impacts conditions in each of these critical areas./ppAttendees will have the chance to see emTen Lives, A Feral Cat Odyssey/em, a new documentary supported by FoA, the Summerlee Foundation, and the ASPCA, which reveals the lives of feral cats and the growing numbers of people and organizations working to not only humanely make their lives better, but reduce their numbers through the proven method known as trap, neuter and return TNR. nbsp;nbsp;/ppAnother film that will be presented at Vegfest is emThe Ghosts in Our Machine/em. The film follows acclaimed animal photographer Jo-Anne McArthur over the course of a year as she photographs several animal stories in parts of Canada, the U.S., and Europe. Each story is a window into global animal industries: food, fashion, entertainment and research. All part of her epic global photo project, emWe Animals/em, McArthur has documented the lives of animals with heart-breaking, empathic vividness and professionalism, and begs the question: Are non-human animals property to be owned and used, or are they sentient beings deserving of rights?/ppWhen attendees get hungry, they will discover how delicious vegan food can be. Cleveland#39;s favorite chefs, restaurants, and confectioneries will be featuring their best-selling vegan menu items in our vegan food court.
