Cheers to the Wyoming grand jury who indicted Cody Roberts for a felony charge of cruelty to animals.

Roberts, the infamous, deranged wolf tormenter, shocked the nation last year when he crushed a young wolf with his snowmobile, then taped its mouth shut, and while the wolf was in agony, dragged the wolf inside a bar and drank before killing the wolf.

We were rightfully disgusted when, at the time, the Wyoming Game and Fish department fined the killer just $250—an insulting figure that most traffic tickets exceed.

We commend the prosecuting attorneys and Sublette county for deciding that the department’s slap-on-the-wrist wasn’t enough. Criminal acts deserve criminal proceedings.

The initial $250 fine sent the message that people who sadistically torture animals are treated similarly to jaywalkers. A felony charge sends the message that animals deserve justice.
