Letter to the Editor
Realizing Charles Walsh’s column’s a stab at humor, it succeeds when telling us a roto-tiller chased a New Jersey resident around the yard. You’ve offended us, however, when advocating that readers gun for squirrels, or consider birds worth poisoning — too worthless to admire.
We live in a culture that glorifies violence. I’d prefer a neighborhood of charming squirrels to grouchy gun nutters who would shoot a squirrel rather than purchase a tomato, or effectively tend to a vegetable and flower garden.
