How can I purchase a spay or neuter certificate for my pet?
You can visit this page and enter your zip code to find any participating veterinarians in your area and follow the steps from there. If you have any questions or would like to place your order by mail, please contact our headquarters by calling 1-800-321-PETS (1-800-321-7387)
Isn’t it unnatural to interfere with an animal’s reproductive cycle?
Humans interfered with nature when we domesticated dogs and cats. In doing so, we helped create the dog and cat overpopulation crisis that now results in millions of these animals being killed in our shelter system and on the streets each year. We must now take responsibility for solving this crisis by preventing as many unwanted births as possible.
Are you a shelter/veterinary office?
Friends of Animals is not a shelter and we do not work with any animals directly at our offices. We work with vet offices nationwide and would be happy to assist you in locating one closest to you if you would like to participate in our spay/neuter program.
What do you mean by animal rights?
Every conscious being has interests that should be respected. No being who is conscious of being alive should be devalued to thinghood, dominated, used as a resource or a commodity. The crux of the idea known as animal rights is that it is a movement to extend moral consideration to all conscious beings.
How are animal rights different from animal welfare?
Traditionally, charities concerned with animal welfare have worked on reducing the suffering of other animals that occurs when they are thought of as lesser beings who can and should be controlled. Those concerned with animal rights, on the other hand, believe that we have the duty to go beyond reducing suffering and should instead demand freedom for all living creatures.
Why do you encourage a vegan lifestyle?
We perceive dairy products, eggs, honey, and leather as products that are taken from animals, just as flesh is taken. We do not wish to be a part of any industry that treats animals unjustly and believe that the consumption of animal products is extremely detrimental to the health of human beings and the earth as a whole. Veganism is a direct response to the ecological and moral issues facing the world today, as well as very beneficial for your health, and isn’t as difficult as some may think!
