Ban Shooting Contests -- Prohibit Devocalization -- Prohibit Horse-Drawn Carriages in NYC

New York residents are invited to join Friends of Animals and League of Humane Voters on May 7th for NY State Lobby Day in Albany as we meet with NY Senators and Assembly Members in the Capitol to educate and urge passage of three critically important animal protection bills currently pending in the New York State Legislature.

This is an incredible opportunity for you to meet and speak directly with your elected officials about legislation that will make a tremendous difference in the lives of animals in New York.

We will hold a pre-lobbying meeting at 11:15am in the Legislative Office Building, Hearing Room A, where we will prepare everyone for the day, organize you into lobbying teams, give out meeting schedules, legislative packets and give an overview of the pending legislation that we're supporting. You'll also get tips and hear from some animal-friendly legislators and sponsors of the bills we're supporting at the meeting before you begin your exciting day of lobbying for the animals!

Click here for free online registration and bus ticket option. Registration is required. After you register you can also reserve your seat on the special low-price bus we've chartered ($20 roundtrip) leaving Manhattan at 8am and arriving in Albany before 11am. We are scheduled to leave Albany at 4pm. You can also arrange your own transportation if you'd prefer. (Directions at bottom of email).

The three critical pending bills we are focusing on for Lobby Day (read full legislation at links) are: 1. S4074/A3661 The bill to ban animal-killing/hunting contests and competitions. 2. S2271/A1204 The bill to ban devocalization (vocal cord mutilation) of dogs and cats. 3. S00667/A00997 The bill to ban horse-drawn carriages in New York City and place each horse in a sanctuary or refuge.

For more background information on the pending legislation and why Friends of Animals supports passage of these bills, please read the following articles representing our positions on animal killing contests, devocalization of dogs and cats, and the NYC horse-drawn carriage industry.

**If you're arranging your own transportation to Albany, please plan to arrive in time for the 11:15am pre-lobbying meeting and allow extra time for traffic and security checks getting into the Capital Building.
