Howling Across America to Save Wolves

Like Humans, Wolves Live In Families. Like Humans, Wolves Need Friends.

Wolves display high intelligence, expressiveness, and other characteristics that enable them to maintain sophisticated, family-based social bonds. Without friends defending their rights and interests, the fates of wolves in Alaska, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and most of the Northern Rockies are thrown to hunters, ranchers and federal agents under the "livestock protection" banner.

· Tonight (Friday): Wolf Advocate Priscilla Feral on HLN's Issues With Jane Velez-Mitchell

· Rallies and Boycotts of Idaho, Montana and Wyoming

· Legal Appeal for Wolves

Special announcement: Watch Friends of Animals president Priscilla Feral as a guest of Jane Velez-Mitchell today on CNN's HLN TV (SEE VIDEO), talking about today's DC Rally for Wolves and efforts to halt the killing. To become a friend to help Friends of Animals protect wolves, donate now.

In April 2011, the U.S. Congress slipped a wolf de-listing rider into the federal budget bill, yanking wolves from the Endangered Species List in the Northern Rockies-where it's estimated that just over 1500 wolves remain.

Said Priscilla Feral, president of Friends of Animals: "Removing federal protection and subjecting wolves to more hunting is unconstitutional and unconscionable."

The Rally for Wolves in Washington, DC today to denounce this underhanded de-listing is the first of many rallies in North America.

Members and supporters of Friends of Animals now call for a travel and economic boycott of the states that advocate killing wolves: Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.

"We need to put the economic screws to state governments that persecute wolves at the behest of haters," said Feral.

Tags are already on sale in Montana for the shooting of 225 wolves; more than 1000 tags have been sold in the first few days. In Idaho, the bloodbath is slated to begin this month - on the 30th of August.

Friends of Animals' legal experts are now drafting an amicus brief to buttress an appeal before federal Judge Donald Molloy by Alliance for the Wild Rockies, Friends of the Clearwater and WildEarth Guardians "to preserve both wolves and the rule of law in the Northern Rockies."

Time is of the essence. Support our efforts today. If you can do a Howl-In for your city (international support is welcome), email Dustin Rhodes. Everyone can contact the governors and announce your intent to boycott travel in each state for as long as they continue persecuting wolves:

What in the world is wrong with our government to allow such an atrocious act? These animals in the late 1800's were near extinction, so does our government or we as human beings not learn from our mistakes? The wolf was added to the Endangered Species Act when in 1973 when the population in the lower 48 states plunged to around 400. The gray wolf was one of the first species listed as endangered under this Act. The Endangered Species Act reflects a resurgence of environmentalism by outlawing the injuring or killing of species on the brink of extinction...and now our government leaders want to ignore what this act stands for...!!!??? The bald eagle, once almost extinct like the wolf has made a remarkable comeback. If our government allows innocent wolves to be slaughtered for no plausible reason...will the bald eagle be next on the list??? WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!!

I am so distraught at the news of opening season on these beautiful creatures of GOD! They are cousins of our domestic dogs. I have 5 feral cats that I've had since they were only a few weeks old and bottled fed most. Have adopted out and tamed numerous ferals to save their lives. WHY would anyone be so cruel to MURDER these precious lives? I am truly upset and disturbed by this malicious endeavor of sick humans! Please Save our WOLVES! They deserve to live!

I just sent e-mails to the governors of these three states. We visited each state last year, but if the wolves are hunted and killed, I informed the governors that we will take our vacation $$ elsewhere in the future. These precious animals must be protected!

What is America coming to!!! We must stop this at once . If we kill the wolf off what is going to be next. We have learned so much from this beautiful animal and can learn so much more. What is are government thinking? Well that is the big problem they are not thinking. What can we do to show are government this is wrong !!!! Come on people we must speak for the American Wolves.

IT APPEARS THAT WE ARE DOOMED TO REPEAT THE PAST. I GUESS WE HAVEN'T LEARNED ANYTHING, AND MONEY SEEMS TO BE WHAT A LOT OF PEOPLE WORSHIP. I KNOW THAT TIMES ARE HARD, BUT THIS IS NOT THE ANSWER. IT IS COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS TO STICK A RIDER ABOUT WILDLIFE IN A BUDGET BILL. OH, I AM SURE IT IS LEGAL AND GOES ON ALL THE TIME, BUT THAT CERTAINLY DOES NOT MAKE IT RIGHT. I WILL NOT TRAVEL OR PURCHASE ANYTHING IN A STATE THAT THINKS THIS IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO. I AM AFRAID THAT SOMEDAY THERE WILL BE NO ANIMALS LEFT TO HUNT OR EAT OR SUPPOSEDLY HAVE DOMINION OVER. AT SOME POINT AFTER THAT, THE HUMAN ANIMAL WILL DISAPPEAR. I AM BEGGING NOW, TOO. PLEASE, PLEASE SAVE OUR ENDANGERED SPECIES.

For once, I'd like to see a politician do the right thing rather than being motivated by greed.

I've emailed and face booked my friends. This is beyond words and comprehension.

STOP THE KILLING, SAVE THE WOLVES. HUMANS ARE THE RUINATION OF ALL THAT'S BEAUTIFUL AND WONDERFUL. THERE ARE NOT THAT MANY LEFT LET US HAVE WHAT THEE IS. HAVE A HEART......

boycott beef! boycott potatoes! and boycott travel to these states!

Wow!! Once again the fools with their guns that feel like they have a right to kill whatever may be their nuisance fixation of the moment. Who do these people think they are to hunt and kill a living breathing being? Right now it's the wolves last week it's the whales and seals, next week hard telling. Doesn't every living thing have a purpose in this world? How would these same people feel if the laws were created that it was open hunting season on the politicians and their families or just people in general that are different and could be looked at as a nuisance to others. I really find it hard to believe that in today's society we still have people that think this way, killing of anything especially to kill because of the belief of it being a problem is wrong and a twisted way to believe. After all isn't that why we have prisons full of people that have broken this very law? It's called MURDER. The natural balance of life should be protected by all. Do we know what the future outcome may be by wiping out different species? Haven't we as people already wiped out species of animals or almost wiped them out and have had bad repercussions from doing this? That's why the wolf went back on an endangered species list because man almost wiped them out of existence. Leave the poor creatures of the world alone and let nature take its course.
