Wolves Need Your Help NOW

April 11, 2011 | Take Action / Hunting & Wildlife Management / Wolves / Free-Living Animals

The current budget bill before Congress contains a provision that will take gray wolves off the Endangered Species List in Montana and Idaho. Animal advocates only have a short time to speak out. Currently, there isn't a Senator who has introduced an amendment that will remove this deadly rider from the budget bill.

If the budget bill passes, with the delisting language intact, Montana and Idaho wolves will be at the mercy of brutal state management. They will lose all rights to judicial review. In other words, they will be doomed in the Northern Rockies-possibly facing extinction.

The legislation was proposed by Rep. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho) and Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.)-who claim that wolves are preying on livestock and so-called game animals prized by hunters.

Listed below are the phone numbers and contact info for the Senate. Please call not only your own Senators, but every Senate Democrat as many times as you can. Please also pass this information along to other animal advocates. Wolves need every voice possible.

Capital Switchboard Numbers - give the name of the Senator & you will be transferred to their office. You will then either speak to a staff member, or on the weekend "“ to voice mail.

When possible ask to speak to each Senator's environmental aide. This will give you a better chance to get your message across because you will be talking to someone who is familiar with the issue.

It always amazes me that those of us seek to place my friends the wolves on the endagerspecies act only to increase their numbers so that the wolves can be taken off the endangered species act because their numbers in the wild have rebound so those that see wolves as their enemy can slaughter them to near extinction again so that we can put the wolves back on the endangered species list once again. the endangered species act seems like it is being used to control the big game such as the wolves ensuring that the hunters and poachers always have something to shoot at coming hunting season.... stop encroching on the wolves territory, desacrating their land, and chasing their natural food source away by building another mall or track homes in their place and the wolves wont bother your live stock, children and small pets.... the wolves stay to themselves as long as their shelter (forests) their food source (deer, moose and small rodents) are plentiful take the needs of the wolves away from them and just like any parent they will travel miles to find food for their young just like you would do and kill anything to feed their family such as your family pet....the human race created this cycle of destruction and blamed the "wolf" for mans mistakes!!!

THE WOLVES IN THIS COUNTRY HAVE ONE LAST CHANCE TO SURVIVE, PLEASE, WE OWE IT TO THIS BEAUTIFUL ANIMAL. WE NEED TO DO THIS FOR OURSELVES AS WELL. mARCIE j. nEWMAN-pERSKIN

When is state management finally going to leave well enough alone? We have to learn to share land with the ones who were here before us. We can do it if humans practice the art of RESPECT! Remember: We are on their territory; not the other way around! This is not OUR planet, other living creatures live here too. Money is NOT everything! We would have a more functioning planet if we understood this.

PLEASE PROTECT OUR WILD LIFE THEY ARE GIFTS FROM GOD, NOT TO BE BRUTALLY SLAUGHTERED BY MAN AN WOMEN, SUCH AS MAN AN WOMEN FIGHT IN WARS MARK ERRICO

I think a person's worth is determined in how they treat others. If mankind don't treat wolves any better than this, then I have very little respect for people! PULL UP YOUR SOCKS!

NATURE CREATED A PERFECT WAY TO CONTROL ALL ANIMAL POPULATIONS ON THIS PLANET. ALLOWING MANAGEMENT BY THOSE WHO HAVE MOTIVATIONS OTHER THAN ECOLOGY, OTHER THAN THE HEALTH AND BALANCE OF OUR NATURAL LANDS, IS MERELY A COVER FOR THOSE WHO WOULD DECIMATE THE WOLVES IN ORDER TO SUPPORT THEIR HUNTING PRACTICES OR THEIR CATTLE INDUSTRIES. I HOPE OUR LEGISLATORS ARE WILLING TO RISE ABOVE THESE SPECIAL INTERESTS, AND SPARE THESE BEAUTIFUL ANIMALS. I hope the efforts of all animal and nature lovers, will help to overcome the special interests.

Please put the gray wolves on the Endangered Species list or they will be extinct soon. Thank you

One thing I would like to point out is that Tester and Simpson's rider is unconstitutional as it violates the rights of Americans to challenge it in the courts which is the act of a dictatorship and not a democracy. In other words, what Tester, Simpson, and the other lawmakers who are refusing to take the rider out of the spending bill are doing is a criminal act. The rider itself is illegal according to federal law because it takes away our constitutional right to contest it. Save the wolves, The E.S.A, and our rights as Americans to challenge unjust laws!

What in the WORLD does this have to do with US budget reduction? Why don't you think of ways to actually reduce the deficit, rather than stripping away the peoples' hard earned social services, and butchering innocent animals? You could start by making billionaires, and billionaire corporations PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE IN TAXES, and end the huge refunds you give them that they don't deserve. You have already butchered the American People enough with your selfish, immature, and cruel ways- why don't you do the world a favor and leave the animals well enough alone. They certainly aren't the ones destroying the country, or killing the budget. Oh, one more thing- those "game animals" that yuppies & rednecks like to hunt for "prize" aren't necessary for their survival- for the wolves it is called "food"... who do you think they are more necessary for? The humans can find a new "hobby", the wolves have every bit as much right to life as humans. LEAVE THEM PROTECTED!

Please protect our wildlife
