Save the Ballona Wetlands

October 15, 2013 | Wetlands / Take Action

ALERT:  We are asking you to please add your signature to the petition below to stop The Annenberg Foundation from destroying the Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve - more than 600 acres of land on the coast of Los Angeles that were already saved once from a massive development proposal. Now, Annenberg has joined with three state agencies and the US Army Corps of Engineers to support a plan that would construct a domestic animal facility on land protected for wildlife habitat, bulldoze away fragile habitat that is home for endangered birds and imperiled wildflowers and remove the Ballona Creek levees which allow for bicycle recreation, walking and rowing - as well as wildlife habitat and flood & water quality protections.

We cannot allow this destruction of flora and fauna to take place. Please sign the petition and pass it along to others so that we can demand that the government agencies charged with protecting public lands and wildlife do their jobs and not be swayed by monied interests who want to betray an Ecological Reserve.

The Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve must be allowed to remain the environmentally protective habitat for the endangered species it now houses. To bulldoze this precious land and build any commercial interest would be to betray and annihilate the species it now preserves. This is wrong-headed and cruel to all wildlife that flourish there now.
