Howling Across America to Save Wolves

Like Humans, Wolves Live In Families. Like Humans, Wolves Need Friends.

Wolves display high intelligence, expressiveness, and other characteristics that enable them to maintain sophisticated, family-based social bonds. Without friends defending their rights and interests, the fates of wolves in Alaska, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and most of the Northern Rockies are thrown to hunters, ranchers and federal agents under the "livestock protection" banner.

· Tonight (Friday): Wolf Advocate Priscilla Feral on HLN's Issues With Jane Velez-Mitchell

· Rallies and Boycotts of Idaho, Montana and Wyoming

· Legal Appeal for Wolves

Special announcement: Watch Friends of Animals president Priscilla Feral as a guest of Jane Velez-Mitchell today on CNN's HLN TV (SEE VIDEO), talking about today's DC Rally for Wolves and efforts to halt the killing. To become a friend to help Friends of Animals protect wolves, donate now.

In April 2011, the U.S. Congress slipped a wolf de-listing rider into the federal budget bill, yanking wolves from the Endangered Species List in the Northern Rockies-where it's estimated that just over 1500 wolves remain.

Said Priscilla Feral, president of Friends of Animals: "Removing federal protection and subjecting wolves to more hunting is unconstitutional and unconscionable."

The Rally for Wolves in Washington, DC today to denounce this underhanded de-listing is the first of many rallies in North America.

Members and supporters of Friends of Animals now call for a travel and economic boycott of the states that advocate killing wolves: Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.

"We need to put the economic screws to state governments that persecute wolves at the behest of haters," said Feral.

Tags are already on sale in Montana for the shooting of 225 wolves; more than 1000 tags have been sold in the first few days. In Idaho, the bloodbath is slated to begin this month - on the 30th of August.

Friends of Animals' legal experts are now drafting an amicus brief to buttress an appeal before federal Judge Donald Molloy by Alliance for the Wild Rockies, Friends of the Clearwater and WildEarth Guardians "to preserve both wolves and the rule of law in the Northern Rockies."

Time is of the essence. Support our efforts today. If you can do a Howl-In for your city (international support is welcome), email Dustin Rhodes. Everyone can contact the governors and announce your intent to boycott travel in each state for as long as they continue persecuting wolves:

Stop the killing of wolves. Humans have taken over the natural habitat. The wolves are the innocent wounded vs. co-habitating with humans. Humans should worry less about killing the wolves to protect their livestock and concentrate on working with nature and what was here before habitation by humans and cattle.

I can't believe they're going to kill them! Wolves are gorgeous animals! They are so wild and free, and are everything about a family. Their music is so soothing. I could listen to them all day and all night. I can't do any traveling or donating, and it makes me sad that I can't. I wish I could, so desperately. I love wolves. If you contact me about signing a petition where I can get it in the mail or something, or however I can help even though there are many complications here, let me know! I want to help anyway I can. Maybe I'll make a sign here and put it outside my apartment. That's an idea. And I'll put this website address on it. Or if you have a better website or something, just let me know! HOWL FOR THE WOLVES! AHOOOOOOO!!!!!!

This is just plain cruel!! As soon as they are dropped from the endangered list animals...described as humans...will start their killing spree! My husband and I are true hard-core animal lovers and completely disagree with this decision. Wish we had more land to house more animals...wolves would definitely be part of that group!! Congress should be ashamed of themselves!!

Doesn't any creature have a right to life in the United States these days? Why are the people continuously having to fight the "powers that be" to save our natural resources be it land, air, water, or America's wildlife. Everything in this country is under siege. Everything has a price on it's head and there for taking. Things in America are spinning hopelessly out of control. When is enough, enough? Stop systematically taking America's heritage to the firing squad for execution. Stop the needless, unnecessary attack on Wolves. Protect America's wildlife now. Please! Do we really have to beg? Then, I'm begging. Please save the wolves and other endangered species. Thank you. Carol Miller

It's not just wolves. Here in Florida cattle ranchers are killing Florida panther and the state and game warden look the other way. This is not a made up story, it's a fact . Animals have the right to live free. It's humans that need to get educated to learn to leave them alone. Humans don't know how to live and animals have been living the same way years and years till humans came into their land. For humans it's all about the money. What god created is going to live forever and money is going to disappear.

Surely the United States should be leading the way in conservation but it seems the exact opposite is happening. Every creature has its place in nature and when artificially removed, by over hunting, the whole fragile natural balance is changed and humans will suffer too. This extermination plan is shocking.

In the Native Culture the Wolves were our leaders and teachers. As the Government and the Cattle Ranchers should be made aware, there is a balance to nature and there is a purpose for every living thing the Creator provided. If you eliminate the wolves there will be an over-population of smaller animals such as Gophers which will create holes which will possibly be responsible for the broken legs of cattle and horses. There will also be problems with diseases disseminating the larger wildlife such as Moose and Elk, Wolves will take out the old and sick of those herds and without them disease will run rampant. So the government eliminates the wolves and then what, the Gophers, Squirrels, Rabbits, Foxes and they won't have to worry about the larger animals because they will be wiped out by disease. Man is not God, we were placed here to live in harmony with all other living things not to decide what species should thrive and what should be eliminated. As for all of the hunters out there, I am not against hunting, it is how the native people survived but there was one rule we lived by, "take only what you need and use all that you take", that means eat the meat, use the hide for clothing, the bones for tools, jewelry and decoration, not just the head mounted on a piece of wood. The Creator planned nature perfectly, it's called "the natural balance". It is man who has destroyed it. The Government should spend more time worrying about feeding the hungry, finding alternative energy sources and to stop squabbling amongst themselves and let the Creator take care of the Natural Balance of Life. Wake Up People before it is too late!

Save these animals from extinction! Americas ancestors depended on these animals for many things and now the government wants to kill them?! Killing an animal is like killing a human, you are taking something God created away from his world.

How can I help? FoA comments: Contact the governors and announce your intent to boycott travel in each state for as long as they continue persecuting wolves. See alert above for more info.

There should be NO riders on budget bills, especially those that have implications for living, breathing animals and humans. Please save the wolf! Do not ever kill a wolf to save a cow! That is so unfair!
