Howling Across America to Save Wolves

Like Humans, Wolves Live In Families. Like Humans, Wolves Need Friends.

Wolves display high intelligence, expressiveness, and other characteristics that enable them to maintain sophisticated, family-based social bonds. Without friends defending their rights and interests, the fates of wolves in Alaska, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and most of the Northern Rockies are thrown to hunters, ranchers and federal agents under the "livestock protection" banner.

· Tonight (Friday): Wolf Advocate Priscilla Feral on HLN's Issues With Jane Velez-Mitchell

· Rallies and Boycotts of Idaho, Montana and Wyoming

· Legal Appeal for Wolves

Special announcement: Watch Friends of Animals president Priscilla Feral as a guest of Jane Velez-Mitchell today on CNN's HLN TV (SEE VIDEO), talking about today's DC Rally for Wolves and efforts to halt the killing. To become a friend to help Friends of Animals protect wolves, donate now.

In April 2011, the U.S. Congress slipped a wolf de-listing rider into the federal budget bill, yanking wolves from the Endangered Species List in the Northern Rockies-where it's estimated that just over 1500 wolves remain.

Said Priscilla Feral, president of Friends of Animals: "Removing federal protection and subjecting wolves to more hunting is unconstitutional and unconscionable."

The Rally for Wolves in Washington, DC today to denounce this underhanded de-listing is the first of many rallies in North America.

Members and supporters of Friends of Animals now call for a travel and economic boycott of the states that advocate killing wolves: Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.

"We need to put the economic screws to state governments that persecute wolves at the behest of haters," said Feral.

Tags are already on sale in Montana for the shooting of 225 wolves; more than 1000 tags have been sold in the first few days. In Idaho, the bloodbath is slated to begin this month - on the 30th of August.

Friends of Animals' legal experts are now drafting an amicus brief to buttress an appeal before federal Judge Donald Molloy by Alliance for the Wild Rockies, Friends of the Clearwater and WildEarth Guardians "to preserve both wolves and the rule of law in the Northern Rockies."

Time is of the essence. Support our efforts today. If you can do a Howl-In for your city (international support is welcome), email Dustin Rhodes. Everyone can contact the governors and announce your intent to boycott travel in each state for as long as they continue persecuting wolves:

Comments

i have sent my comments to these insensitive govs wolves have always shared our land. Salazar sickens me the most. he bows down to his cronies the ranchers. shame!

It seems to me that the "American Way" has gone seriously off the tracks when wild mustangs and wolves are destroyed to save a farmer the trouble of protecting his animals. Don't just boycott the states of Wyoming, Idaho and Montana, starve the farmers out, refuse to buy their beef or their produce. See how they like being on the other end of the gun. I can't believe that Canada was stupid enough to help Yellowstone repopulate their wolf population only to watch the native population be wiped out. Had we known, believe me, we wouldn't have sent a single wolf south of the border. How long until they start hunting "our" wolves in Yellowstone?

I am Canadian and I know if that happened here I would be fired up I am very incensed and I wonder how these Governors would feel if they were hunted down as they plan to do to these beautiful animals. The world is going to hell in a hand-basket and this is just one more hit for politics. That is what it boils down to.

please save them from extinctoin

**This is very sad & heartbreaking to hear!! Our wolves & all of our precious & innocent animals HAVE to be protected! They certainly deserve our attention to protect them. It's sickening that the governor can't wait to 'have the first shot!' WOW!! What an insensitive jerk

i am lenne lenape(Delaware Indian) and through my culture and traditions our wildlife is part of mother earth and part of the Creators hand on this earth.I,am also from the Wolf clan of Lenapes and the wolf has a spiritual place among my people. The Creator has said we need to take care of all our creatures, four legged, winged ones, ones that crawl and two legged.I,am saddened by the out right disrespect of our brother the wolf. Prayers to the Creator for no harm to come to this beautiful animal.

Save the Wolves! They are a beautiful, intelligent social creature. How can mankind be so cruel.

I'm with this group but I can't donate. But this is stupid of what they did, I mean what did wolves do to us?? NOTHING. They are animals of God! If they rabies it's okay to put them down but to kill them for no reason?? That's sad! These are God's creatures! God does not like to see anything of hes creation die or let alone be killed! I hope you Governors and Senators see this and every other comment because these are God's creation! Think about it!

I am appalled at this extermination of these beautiful creatures, what in Gods name is wrong with you people. We are suppose to take Care of Gods Animals not Kill them.If you have one ounce of heart stop this slaughter. Hope you can sleep at night.I am pissed off

Stop the slaughter. Man will not be happy until they destroy this planet! Leave the wolves alone and we will protest and demand justice for innocent animals murdered! NO PROFIT FOR MURDER! BAN THE STATES THAT ALLOW THE SLAUGHTER OF THESE WOLVES. I KNOW I WILL. POST ON F/B, TWITTER AND MY SPACE!
