Howling Across America to Save Wolves

Like Humans, Wolves Live In Families. Like Humans, Wolves Need Friends.

Wolves display high intelligence, expressiveness, and other characteristics that enable them to maintain sophisticated, family-based social bonds. Without friends defending their rights and interests, the fates of wolves in Alaska, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and most of the Northern Rockies are thrown to hunters, ranchers and federal agents under the "livestock protection" banner.

· Tonight (Friday): Wolf Advocate Priscilla Feral on HLN's Issues With Jane Velez-Mitchell

· Rallies and Boycotts of Idaho, Montana and Wyoming

· Legal Appeal for Wolves

Special announcement: Watch Friends of Animals president Priscilla Feral as a guest of Jane Velez-Mitchell today on CNN's HLN TV (SEE VIDEO), talking about today's DC Rally for Wolves and efforts to halt the killing. To become a friend to help Friends of Animals protect wolves, donate now.

In April 2011, the U.S. Congress slipped a wolf de-listing rider into the federal budget bill, yanking wolves from the Endangered Species List in the Northern Rockies-where it's estimated that just over 1500 wolves remain.

Said Priscilla Feral, president of Friends of Animals: "Removing federal protection and subjecting wolves to more hunting is unconstitutional and unconscionable."

The Rally for Wolves in Washington, DC today to denounce this underhanded de-listing is the first of many rallies in North America.

Members and supporters of Friends of Animals now call for a travel and economic boycott of the states that advocate killing wolves: Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.

"We need to put the economic screws to state governments that persecute wolves at the behest of haters," said Feral.

Tags are already on sale in Montana for the shooting of 225 wolves; more than 1000 tags have been sold in the first few days. In Idaho, the bloodbath is slated to begin this month - on the 30th of August.

Friends of Animals' legal experts are now drafting an amicus brief to buttress an appeal before federal Judge Donald Molloy by Alliance for the Wild Rockies, Friends of the Clearwater and WildEarth Guardians "to preserve both wolves and the rule of law in the Northern Rockies."

Time is of the essence. Support our efforts today. If you can do a Howl-In for your city (international support is welcome), email Dustin Rhodes. Everyone can contact the governors and announce your intent to boycott travel in each state for as long as they continue persecuting wolves:

How can a rider like this one be slipped into a budget bill? We, the American People, do not stand for the extermination of a wonderful animal, just because some idots in the government sneak this trhough. Wolves are the closet animal to the tamed dog Without the wolf, we wouldn't have "man's best friend". I wonder if any of those people have a family dog....if so then they will be killing its relative. Shame on the government for allowing this type of murder to occur. Help save this breed. What part of nature will be next?

You kill these beautiful animals and it's just as bad as mass slaughter of humans if not worse. Wolves are amazing creatures that have every right to live. You people are monsters for even considering something like this. No, worse than monsters. Wolves need to be protected. If you are true Americans you will stop this bull crap. What would our founding fathers say if they knew what you were trying to do?

A question. Is there anyway we could also boycott any meat products that come from the cattle of these ranchers in these states? I believe if we did, then maybe it would really send a loud and clear message to not only the coldblooded scumbags for governors, but also those greedy, apathetic ranchers and the stupid, gun happy hunters. Its times like these I wish a disease would be sent by God to wipe out all cattle to punish all those that were greedy and heartless. Its not like we really and truly need cows anyways. We can always learn grow and eat other things that wouldn't cause so much destruction to the environment, and cause people to be cold, cruel, money hungry and selfish. But, you know that could happen if wolves start to go extinct, and a disease normally only seen in gophers and rabbits, jumps species and starts not only making the cattle very ill; but kills them off. It could very well happen.

IT APPEARS THAT WE ARE DOOMED TO REPEAT THE PAST. I GUESS WE HAVEN'T LEARNED ANYTHING, AND MONEY SEEMS TO BE WHAT A LOT OF PEOPLE WORSHIP. I KNOW THAT TIMES ARE HARD, BUT THIS IS NOT THE ANSWER. IT IS COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS TO STICK A RIDER ABOUT WILDLIFE IN A BUDGET BILL. OH, I AM SURE IT IS LEGAL AND GOES ON ALL THE TIME, BUT THAT CERTAINLY DOES NOT MAKE IT RIGHT. I WILL NOT TRAVEL OR PURCHASE ANYTHING IN A STATE THAT THINKS THIS IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO. I AM AFRAID THAT SOMEDAY THERE WILL BE NO ANIMALS LEFT TO HUNT OR EAT OR SUPPOSEDLY HAVE DOMINION OVER. AT SOME POINT AFTER THAT, THE HUMAN ANIMAL WILL DISAPPEAR. I AM BEGGING NOW, TOO. PLEASE, PLEASE SAVE OUR ENDANGERED SPECIES.

Can anyone tell me if there is going to be a protest in favor of the wolves in Texas? I want to help. ty

Why would you even consider the slaughter of these majestic animals? Have you no morals or ethics? They were brought to the brink of extinction by humans once before, and revived by people who understood the species and cared enough to work toward that goal. Now, a bunch of neanderthals are ready to do it again! Please, come out of the cave before it is too late to save these guardians!

These 3 governor,Idaho Butch Otter, Montana Brian D. Schweitzer, Matt Mead of Wyoming, think they are God. These animals were put on earth my our father above, just because they are governors they think they can speak for everyone. Wolves can't speak for themselves so we as humans need to speak for them. Leave the wolves alone, they are beautiful animals, they hurt just like we do, they feel pain, and for these 3 governors to order their deaths is a disgrace to this planet that God gave us.

I have e=-mailed each governor involved and asked every soul I know to do the same and will continue until the slaughter is stopped. There are more vital issues to spend their time / money on than destroying these beautiful animals. We have some wolves here in Michigan and feel fortunate to have seen a few.

I feel that this whole situation is unacceptable there is no point to kill these wolves let then live and continue there lives these beautiful animals are the cousins of mans best friends killing these wolves is like taking a dog and just taking its life once again this is pointless and we all need help and save not only these helpless wolves but every other endangered animal !!!!

This has to be the most cruel and insane action I can imagine. I live in Wyoming, and never thought i'd live to hear this story. Our government has made a mess of everything it touches. If I could afford to move I would be out of here ASAP. When and where this will end is anyones guess. I think this is just the start and is going to continue unchecked until we get rid of the politicians who added this to a budget bill and let them know we won't stand for it. Stop this madness before it is to late for the beautiful wolves. If you are reading this text, e-mail, facebook or twitter as many people as you can and have their voices heard. Maybe even let our President know how strongly we feel.
